A few weeks ago, four of my friends and I got together to make felt boards for our kids. After realizing that we were not organized enough to actually let our kids help out, we decided to let the kids play while the mommies made the felt boards for them. (I know, but it's not a perfect world).
We met at my house on Friday morning, made some breakfast, let the kids run wild, and made some felt boards. I had cut the felt into long rectangles beforehand, and the first thing we did was fold them and sew yarn to close up the two long edges. One of the short edges was left open so we could slip in pieces of cut plexiglas to make the boards rigid. Then, we went to town cutting felt shapes for our kids.
This is what a felt board Friday looks like. Is it strange that there are only 2 pictures of us working on the felt boards themselves?

OK, now you need to do a tutorial on actually making them because you have my interest ;)
What a fun day for the mamas and little ones! Now if only I had one iota of the creativity that you have in your little finger... I'd be doing cool stuff like that too ;-)
Thanks for linking up!
What a great idea to team up with friends!! Did you all make felt characters in bunches too and swap? That would be a great way to bulk up.
Cute! I made one for my son when he was little & totally stole the idea from Blue's Clues. LOL
I love the baby wearing picture! So cute!
So cool! I totally would not have been able to let the littles help. ;) Good idea to have them play instead.
I love how yours turned out — so charming!
Thanks everyone! We figured it was too dangerous to have that many kids and scissors in close proximity to each other. It might be even more fun with no kids and some wine ;)
Dionna--your idea to cut out shapes/characters in bulk and then swap is a great idea!
