WORDLESS WEDNESDAY: Little M Hits a Milestone

--and so does mommy.

Today I have the whole day to myself.

This hasn't happened in at least two and a half years, since I had  Baby T. But I decided to have Baby T stay home with me one extra day and put Little M in daycare one day a week. Little M is starting to really enjoy being around other kids, and I knew I wanted to have him in daycare at least one day when he turned one. When I realized that was just three months away, I started to imagine what a day without kids would be like. And I started to get excited. The thought of what I could accomplish was so enticing, that I decided to put Little M in daycare sooner than I had anticipated.

Part of me feels guilty. I know so many moms who stay home with their kids and are still able to develop adorable crafts for them to do, come up with imaginative activities, take pictures of all of it, post them on their blogs, run an Etsy store, and more.

I wish I could stay home with my kids and do all that.

But I can't.

You should see my to-do list for today. And I was up until 2 A.M. last night preparing for today. I'm taking this one day to churn out everything I need to do so I can be more present when I am with my kids.

And since Little M is getting bigger and going to daycare, I thought I would make a note of some of his milestones. He is turning into a little boy before my eyes, and it seems like just yesterday he was a tiny newborn, sleeping in my arms all day.

Little M is now saying "mama" and "dada," and when he sees the dog he says "Suh-." (The dog's name is Sully).

Little M is pulling himself up to standing and balancing without holding onto anything.

Little M loves to put things away (He is all dad). If we dump a bunch of toys out of a basket, he will sit and put them all back in.

Little M picks up on actions easily and imitates what I do with his toys. If I bang a drum, he bangs the drum. If I show him how to drop a ball into a container, he drops the ball into a container.

Little M is clapping.

Little M knows when I'm coming to change his diaper and crawls madly away from me, giggling the whole time.

Little M can drink from a straw.

Little M is napping in his crib (sometimes).

Hooray for giving yourself permission to take a day a week for you! That's awesome! A dear friend and I just made a plan to give each other a morning off from our busy toddlers once a week and I am already so looking forward to it! Recharging is a beautiful thing!

Little M sounds like he is doing great things :)

Yeah for a mommy vacay day! It's bittersweet to watch our babies grow up but 1 of the beautiful parts is the opportunity to take more time for ourselves as they get older. Mommy needs time to herself too!
Found you through I Thought I Knew Mama :)

Aw, so sweet! I totally applaud having time to yourself.

Can I borrow Little M to come put some things away?

I'm feeling guilty for planning to send Josh to daycare on Friday even though I don't have school, just so I can get my huge pile of papers graded. Report cards are next week, and if I get it done on Friday then I can be more present for him all weekend. And I'll be way less stressed, plus we have to pay anyway!
